In a heartfelt display of solidarity, Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke has pledged to cover the school fees for one of the children of the late comedian Yokana Mbuuse, popularly known as Kapere Lufotose. The commitment was made during Kapere's burial in Kiyunga, Mukono district, where family, friends, fellow entertainers, and political leaders gathered to pay their final respects.

A Promise of Education

Nambooze, a long-serving legislator from the National Unity Platform (NUP), said her decision was inspired by a desire to support fellow party supporters, especially those who have remained loyal through challenging times. "As long as God grants me life and the financial means, I want to take responsibility for paying Quin's school fees," she declared. "I want to support one of Kapere's children through school. I am doing this because of NUP."

The lawmaker also praised NUP Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya for his tireless efforts in assisting party members and supporters facing hardships, despite his own responsibilities. She announced that she would channel the school fees through Rubongoya to ensure the child receives the necessary support. "I thank our SG. You do a lot for us even in our absence. Sometimes I question myself whether he even sleeps. I will go through you to hand over Quin's school fees," she said.

King Saha's Pledge

In a related development, musician King Saha has promised to complete Kapere's unfinished house. The singer, known for his hit songs and philanthropic gestures, made the commitment during a vigil held at the NUP headquarters, where friends, colleagues, and party supporters gathered to celebrate the comedian's life. King Saha vowed to see the project through, even if it means shouldering the financial burden alone.

Kapere, who passed away on November 1, 2026, was laid to rest on November 3 in Kiyunga, Mukono district, in a ceremony attended by a multitude of entertainers, political figures, and members of the public. The send-off was a testament to the comedian's widespread impact and the affection in which he was held.

Community Rallies for Bereaved Family

During the requiem service and burial proceedings, more than Sh10 million was raised through cash contributions and pledges, as mourners rallied to support Kapere's family. The comedian leaves behind four children.

The outpouring of support from both political and entertainment figures underscores the unity and compassion within the community, even in times of loss. As the family navigates life without their patriarch, the pledges from Nambooze and King Saha offer a glimmer of hope and a promise of a brighter future for Kapere's children.
